We as humans have used touch for therapeutic purposes since the beginning of time. If you think of how your mother held you and stroked your hair and it soothed you, or how we hug someone to give them comfort. Early practitioners saw how they could use touch to help heal injury or pain. Massage has been used in every form of medical practice but not always in the same way.

Bodywork Therapy is a massage mode in which something exists or is experienced or expressed that are not based on modern or western medicine but instead using the energetic anatomy.  For example, reflexology is considered a bodywork therapy, because it works by clearing the blockage of the body’s energy through  zones of the feet. bodywork is usually practiced by licensed massage therapist since they are both held to the same regulations.

Let's talk about Energy Meridians

In many countries, they refer to energy highways of the body such as in China, Japan, Tibet,  India and others as meridians.  There are12 principal meridians and 2 center line meridians or highways in the body for energy to travel.Think of this idea as if it were 12 extension cords hooked together end to end all tangled up. If you untangled them they would form a circle. Each meridian is related to an organ in the body.

Most meridian based treatments are focused on pressure points on the body. Pressure points

are points on the body that regulate the energy flow through the body.  If there is a problem in

the body the pressure point related to that meridian will be sensitive, even painful when any

pressure is applied.

It is believed there is a link between the Meridians and our emotional well being, as well as our

physical health. Meridian massage therapy and acupressure promote good health and help

restore our equilibrium.
